Venus

Venus:

The second planet from the sun. Venus orbits the sun every 225 days at an average distance of 67 million miles (108 million kilometers). Venus comes closer to Earth than any other planet.Venus rotates slowly on its axis in a clockwise direction, which which astronomers call a "retrograde" rotation because it is the opposite of the way the seven other planets rotate. A rotation takes about 243 Earth days, so a Venusian day is longer than a Venusian year. Even though Venus has been called Earth’s "sister planet," conditions on Venus are quite different from those on Earth. The dense atmosphere is composed of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid which acts as a greenhouse and traps the heat. Venus is an enormously hot desert with day and night temperatures over 900 degrees Fahrenheit (484 degrees Celsius). The temperature on Venus is so hot it could melt lead. Life as we know it could not exist on Venus.
