rocket:

A device that moves by usually burning fuel and expelling the resulting hot gases from one end. The rocket moves in the opposite direction from the escaping gases, an example of Newton’s third law of motion: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Rockets can be used on the earth or in outer space.
