Morse, Samuel F. B. (1791-1872):

An American inventor of the electric telegraph and of Morse code, a combination of dots and dashes representing letters and numbers. It is still occasionally used in radio-telegraphy. Morse’s famous message “What hath God wrought!” was sent in 1844.
