Visiting San Angelo, Texas last school year was so nice. I spoke to many of the children in the grade schools of the city who were bussed into the Media Center in large groups. I also spoke at a literacy conference on the following Saturday. Dedra Carter, my host and chair of the conference, and the teachers and librarians couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming. Finding out about the city was so enjoyable! Liz and I stayed for another day after the conference because of weather delays up north and that gave us the great opportunity of seeing the fort of the Buffalo Soldiers, the Arts Museum and the Water Gardens. We’ll never forget our lovely visit. Thank all you guys in San Angelo for making this possible. And thank Dedra for making the beautiful intro film for the conference.
